82. Chakratirtha

This is the place on the northern bank of Manasi Ganga where Sudarshan Chakra (Lord Vishnu’s personal weapon) stayed and rested. According to the legend behind, when Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan hill up on his little finger to protect the Brajvasis of the anger breakout of Indra, Sudarshan chakra held itself above the land of Braj to evaporate the flood waters due to the rain caused as a result of Indra’s anger. After evaporating the complete flood water with its intense heat, Sudarshan Chakra requested Lord Krishna to allow him to stay there near Manasi Ganga as he didn’t want to leave the land of Braj. Thus, with the consent of Lord Krishna Sudarshan Chakra came to reside at this place which later on was known by the name Chakratirtha....
